Automated border clearance

Eligible Chinese tourists can now use Australia’s automated border clearance when arriving into the country, the Australian Border Force said on June 20. The system allows passengers to process their own immigration clearance using ePassports, prior to customs and quarantine checks. The new system is believed to be Australia’s response to the increased number of Chinese visitors.

据澳大利亚移民及边境部官网消息，从6月20日起，持有效电子护照的中国公民可永久使用澳大利亚“智能门”自助通关系统，在入境时不必排队办理人工验证。由于中国游客数量不断增多，澳大利亚方面采用了这套新的系统，加快入关流程。

“通关”指进出入一国海关关境或国境办理海关规定手续后放行。Clearance在此表示“官方许可、批准”之意。
